Hutchinson Central Technical High School Access Scholarship Program

“This scholarship award has enabled me to come to UB. I’m going to study hard, graduate, and then work to have a good career that will allow me to help others as this scholarship has helped me."
-Scholarship recipient

As a major university, UB touches thousands of lives within the Buffalo community every day, helping to guide the Western New York region toward a brighter future. As a symbol of its commitment to the city of Buffalo, the UB College of Arts and Sciences has established the Hutchinson Central Technical High School Access Scholarship Program. This initiative has been led by Ed Kikta, a member of the College’s Dean’s Advisory Council.

This program will be aimed at enhancing educational opportunities for top graduates from Hutch-Tech to attend the University at Buffalo. There are far too many students who are unable to attend UB due to a gap in funding between what they receive from financial aid sources and the cost of attendance. With the Hutchinson Central Technical High School Access Scholarship Program, these exceptional incoming students will receive need-based scholarships covering their unmet need for the cost of in-state tuition, fees, room and board and books and supplies, for four to five years of undergraduate study.

By creating and supporting these scholarships, the College of Arts and Sciences will have the opportunity to recruit high-achieving local students from Hutch-Tech. These students are likely to remain in the Buffalo area after graduation, supporting its economy and applying their world-class education to the needs of the Greater Buffalo community.
