Most students graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree and significant college loan debt. However some UB students work hard to graduate only to find that with but a few semesters left to complete they have exhausted their financial ability to finish their undergraduate work. As the cost of attending UB has gone up this semester, our students face another 14% increase in tuition expenses next year. Meanwhile, financial aid from the state and federal governments that is available to these students continues to go down, and private student loans are becoming harder to obtain. It is for this reason that the College of Arts and Sciences, through the leadership and generosity of members of the Dean's Advisory Council who had the good fortune to attend UB and to be members of the Alpha Epsilon Pi Chapter at UB, have established The AEΠ Student Assistance Fund to provide critical financial support for these students. Students who have financial need, and for whom a grant will make the difference between their ability to complete their education at UB or withdraw from their studies, will be eligible for assistance. |
