Robert G. Rose, Esq. is a partner in Day Pitney LLP, a regional law firm in the Northeast at its Florham Park, New Jersey offices, where he has practiced in the area of complex commercial litigation for over 30 years. He received his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, with High Distinction in History from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1965 where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. He earned a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University in 1969. He received his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Seton Hall Law Review and upon his graduation was honored with the Alumni Association’s Distinguished Student Award for the Class of 1974.
Following graduation, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable John J. Gibbons, Federal Circuit Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit before starting his legal career at what was then Pitney, Hardin & Kipp in 1975, where he became a partner in 1980. He served for many years on the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law and was its Chair in 2000-2001. He currently serves on the Lawyers Advisory Committee to the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey; and as a trustee on the Board of Legal Services of New Jersey.
For many years he was an active member of the Seton Hall Law School Alumni Association, serving as its President in 1997-98 and was the recipient of its Distinguished Alumni Award in 2000. He has been peer voted and named a “New Jersey Super Lawyer,” and was voted for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America. He currently serves on the Law School’s Board of Visitors.
In the community he has served as a Board Member of MetroWest’s Jewish News and the MetroWest Federation. He has been a Board member of MetroWest’s Jewish Historical Society since 2000, and currently serves as one of its Vice Presidents. He has been a member of the Board of Trustees of The American Conference on Diversity (formerly the National Conference of Christians & Jews, New Jersey Chapter) since 2003 and was recently elected to serve as the Chair of its Board of Trustees. He is a Board Member of the Rabbinical College of America located in Morristown, NJ.
