Marjorie Winkler

Dr. Marjorie E. Winkler is the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical and Analytical Development at Genentech, Inc. Under her guidance, Dr. Winkler provides strategy and direction to groups responsible for developing formulation and delivery solutions, and product characterization data for products and processes in all stages of development at Genentech, Inc. Dr. Winkler began her career at Genentech, Inc. in 1982 as a Scientist in the Research department of Protein Chemistry. She later moved to the department of Recovery Sciences in Process Development as a Senior Scientist. She has continued her career with Genentech, Inc. and has also served as Director for Analytical Chemistry, Manufacturing Sciences and Technology, and Global Manufacturing Science and Technology. Dr. Winkler has gained international recognition with the development of two patents, published fifty-one articles in professional journals, and has made a significant impact on scientific research and development at Genentech, Inc. Dr. Winkler earned her BS and PhD in Chemistry from the University at Buffalo.

In 2009, Dr. Winkler was awarded The Clifford C. Furnas Award by the UB Alumni Association, presented to engineering, natural sciences or mathematics alumni who have distinguished themselves in a field of science.
