Mr. Frank R. Nero, Sr. received his B.S. from the University of Buffalo in 1957 completing five years of study in both chemistry and biology. After receiving his degree he worked for Westwood Pharmaceuticals Inc. a division of the Bristol Myers Squibb Corporation from 1958 to 1979. Mr. Nero started as a sales representative and seventeen years later in 1974 became the President. In 1976 he became a Vice President of the Bristol Myers Squibb Corporation and was elected Western New York’s Marketing Man of the Year. He continued as President until 1979 at which time he formed a new company Cecos International Inc. specializing in the advanced treatment of chemical and hazardous waste. In 1983 his company was sold to Browning Ferris Industries and Mr. Nero continued as President until the end of 1985. In 1986 Mr. Nero once again formed a new company Creative Edge Inc. specializing in inter-active education materials for English as a second language. In 1994 he sold his company to a major educational publishing firm and since that time he has been actively involved in real estate and financial investments in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
During his tenure at Westwood, Cecos, and Creative Edge he founded and was the first chairman of the Sisters of Charity Hospital Foundation. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of D’Youville College from 1979 to 1984. From 1974 to 1984 he was a member of the University of Buffalo’s Graduate School of Management Advisory Committee to the Dean. In 1986 he was a member of the St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute Board of Directors. He currently continues his association with all of these institutions as well as being one of the founders of the Stacey Scott Lung Cancer Registry at Roswell Park Memorial Institute.
